4 Swimming Exercises for Relaxation

1. Do Laps Around the Pool on a Kick Board

Instead of just going around your pool in a freestyle swimming pattern, using the kick board makes it more fun and relaxing. You don’t have to worry about syncing your arms to your legs. If you’re more of a beginning swimmer, this is an especially good way to get used to doing laps.

2. Water Jogging

This is another popular pool exercise that gives you plenty of physical benefits. The water resistance makes you work a lot harder to go around the pool with a jogging motion. However, the low impact nature of the exercise makes it simple for you to get around the pool without any major issues. It keeps you toned without stressing your body.

3. Do Cardio with a Pool Noodle

These pool noodles, or fun noodles, give you an extra challenge as you go through a standard cardio exercise. You balance on the noodle and allow it to lift you as you work around the pool. The buoyancy from the noodle combined with the resistance from the pool makes this effective.

4. Use a Buoyant Ball to Keep Your Exercises Interesting

Lunge, do jumping jacks, or similar exercises while holding a ball that tries to float. You get extra strengthening in your arms, and you also work your core muscles more. If you want to lower the intensity of a particular workout, just keep the ball closer to the surface or lose it entirely if it gets to be too much. You don’t want to strain yourself when you’re trying to relax.

Swimming makes it easy to combine both relaxation and great exercise. All described swimming exercises for relaxation either do not require equipment, or use pool toys that you already have around the pool area, and can be done in any type of pool, even an above ground pool. This keeps it inexpensive as well, so you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the swimming. You’ll end up calmer and more toned.
