Light Exercise Helps You Focus
This advice is especially helpful to individuals with a mild case of OCD, hyper activity, high blood pressure, are known to have a short temper, and the like. Grab a piece of toast and drink a glass of water. Now go out for an early jog or perform yoga, pilates, barre, etc. No, you won’t wear yourself out by the middle of the day. That is assuming you keep the exercise light, around 30 minutes to 1 hour at an easy to moderate exertion level. In fact the opposite is true. You probably will get an extra boost of energy and won’t feel sleepy for the whole day. And, because you’ve gotten your daily dose of exercise, you are less fidgety, resulting in a stress free workday morning.
Eat a Hearty Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Enjoy a large breakfast, especially if you just finished a workout. Think about it, your last full meal (dinner) was at least 8 hours ago. That’s a very long time for your body to go without food. Breakfast means fluids, carbohydrates, proteins, and fruits or vegetables. Coffee and toast will not do. Remember, it has been scientifically proven that a well-nourished body will result in a healthier, faster acting, and adaptable mind vis a vis a stress free workday morning. Think back to the last time you just entered the office and immediately got whisked into a damage control meeting. Halfway through the same, you wished you’d eaten more, right? Don’t wish, DO!
Don’t Be a Buzzer Beater
There are individuals who like to get to the office a few seconds before they get marked as late! The problem with this approach is they have to run to the office and clock in. Sometimes, they don’t make it on time and get marked as late. The stress level of these guys and gals are way up because all the way to the office, they repeatedly think, some even murmur “Am I going to make it?” Save yourself the hassle. Make sure to have 10 to 15 minutes leeway for a stress free workday morning.
Organize Your Work Desk
Tidy things up if you need to. Look at your memos and/or post it’s. Read your email. Any deadlines today? By doing these preparatory acts, you are able to plan your whole workday. You are also able to prioritize things that have to be done first, as opposed to later.
Tip: have an in and out tray.
Get Up During Break Time
The first morning break usually starts 2 hours after you’ve arrived. Take this time to stand up and walk your legs a bit. Grab a cup of your favorite beverage. These breaks were made to give you a breather for a stress free workday morning. Yes, there is a tendency for you to just sit in your desk and browse the web. Please don’t. You need to get up, clear your mind, get the blood flowing.
Drink Plenty of Fluids
Stress can be a mental and/or physical thing. If you want to have a stress free workday morning, then drink plenty of water. Not too much that you end up wasting your time with excessive bathroom runs. Start with the recommended 8 glasses a day. That would put it at 3 to 4 glasses before lunch break.
Vitamins and Minerals
As mentioned earlier, stress can be a manifestation that you don’t get enough vitamins and minerals. Why not go to a physician and inquire about organic multivitamins that you can take.
Foods that Fight Stress
How about you munch on an apple or a banana while you are starting your day? Wash it all down with some chamomile tea. That should relax you. Avoid eating fatty foods and drinking sugary drinks early in the morning. This is not only bad for your health but can also increase your anxiety level.
Love Your Work
A person going to work and doing something he/she is passionate about has a greater chance of having a stress free workday morning. On the flip side, going to work for a snotty boss and/or a toxic work environment will result in stress, even before you walk thru the entrance of your office. So, if you feel that you want to do something else and/or work for a different company, then go ahead! Polish your resume. Go job hunting. But for your financial security, avoid resigning before you find a viable job replacement.
The bottom line is to go to work with a positive mindset and a nourished body. Don’t forget to keep a smile on your face. Remember, you are at work to make a difference, to improve your quality of life, and to contribute to the betterment of people in general.
