1. Antioxidation

2. Control diabetes

In 2014, scientists from Tunisia set out to accomplish a fascinating task: testing the effects of lavender essential oil on blood sugar to see if it could help reverse diabetes. nature.

In a 15-day animal study that researchers observed was absolutely amazing, treatment with lavender essential oil protected the body from the following diabetes symptoms:

3. Anxiety treatment

Traditionally, lavender oil has been used to treat neurological problems like migraines, stress, anxiety and depression. In recent years, lavender oil has become popular for its unique ability to protect nerves against damage. In 2013, a study published by the International Journal of Psychiatry found that supplementing with 80 milligrams of lavender essential oil alleviated anxiety, sleep disturbances, and depression. In 2014, the International Journal of Neurophysiology published a study shows that Silexan (also known as lavender oil) to be effective against generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) compared with placebo and the prescription drug paroxetine. This study also shows that the treatment with essential oil have no withdrawal symptoms or adverse side effects.

Lavender oil also shows its benefits in PTSD treatment. Consuming of 80 milligrams of lavender oil per day can reduce depression by 33% and significantly reduce sleep disturbances.

4. Infections, burns and insect bites treatment

Widely known for its antibacterial properties, for centuries, lavender oil has been used to prevent various infections and fight bacterial and fungal disorders. In fact, nearly 100 studies have been conducted establishing this benefit of lavender over and over again. Research shows that lavender oil speeds the healing of burns, cuts, scrapes, and wounds – and a big part of this is due to its antimicrobial compounds.

A study published in Evidence-Compuityary and Alternative Medicine evaluated the antibacterial power of lavender that was enhanced when it was mixed with other essential oils, such as clove, cinnamon, and tea tree oil. Researchers found that a 1:1 ratio of these oils is believed to be most effective against Candida albicans and Staph aureus – two common causes of many fungal and bacterial infections that lead to pneumonia and skin fungus.

A 2016 study conducted on rats found that lavender oil promotes wound healing in the early stages by accelerating the formation of granulation tissue (tissue from the healing surface of the skin) and promoting total collagen synthesis. The wound area treated with lavender oil was significantly reduced compared with the control group.

To reduce burns and heal cuts, scrapes or wounds, mix 3 drops of lavender oil with a teaspoon of coconut oil and apply the mixture to the area of ​​concern.

5. Headache relief 

If you’re one of the millions of people struggling with tension headaches or migraines, the lavender essential oil may be the natural remedy you’ve been looking for. It is one of the best essential oils for headaches because it helps to relax and relieve stress. It acts as a sedative, anti-anxiety, anticonvulsant and calming agent.

According to a study published in European Neurology, people who struggled with migraines saw significant pain relief when inhaling lavender oil for 15 minutes in several days. The difference between the lavender oil treatment group with other groups was statistically significant. Of the 129 cases of headache attacks, 92 responded completely or partially to lavender.

6. Improve Sleep & Fight Insomnia

Due to lavender oil’s anxiolytic, mood stabilizer, sedative, analgesic, and anticonvulsive and neuroprotective properties,  lavender is commonly used with aromatherapy to promote sleep and fight insomnia.

 A 2015 study included 158 mothers in their postpartum period divided into control or intervention groups. The intervention group inhaled lavender oil before bed four times a week for eight weeks. Women using lavender oil showed a significant improvement in sleep quality when compared to the control group.

There are several studies, like this one involving mothers, that demonstrate the sleep-inducing, calming effects of lavender oil. Inhaling lavender has been shown to reduce sleep disturbances, improve sleep quality and duration, fight insomnia, and improve overall health. Also, unlike most sedatives, lavender does not cause any unwanted side effects. It really promotes general mental and physical health.

7. Lavender essential oil helps relieve pain

And a recent study demonstrated that lavender oil, when massaged into the skin, can help relieve menstrual pain, which is associated with menstrual pain and cramps in the lower abdomen. The results of this study suggest that lavender oil can be used as a natural remedy for cramps & menstruation.
